Cure Ringworm

Cure Ringworm

Depending on who you talk to, there are as many remedies for ringworm as there are types of ringworm infections, more actually.   Over the counter creams and ointments can provide relief for ringworm and oral products can be taken for effective treatment of severe cases of ringworm skin infections.  Do-it-yourself home remedies are also touted as just the thing to cure ringworm.

What is ringworm?  Fungal infections that are on the surface or top layer of the skin are referred to as ringworm.  These are called dermatophytes which mean “skin fungi.”  Skin fungi can only live on the dead layer of keratin protein on top of the skin. The Greeks called it Herpes meaning circular or ring form.  In Roman times the disease was believed to be associated with the larval stage of Tinea, the genus for clothes moth. The two names were eventually combined to the term “ringworm”.

Fungal infections like ringworm, while contagious are not necessarily dangerous to a person or the people around them.  It is rarely serious, but in most cases requires treatment of some kind. Most people who come down with ringworm infections are healthy.  There is sometimes a problem with infection and re-infection within families, communities, and schools.

What happens when ringworm starts to develop is a small area of infected skin tends to spread outwards. It typically develops into a circular, red, inflamed patch of skin. This infection can affect both animals and humans. The appearance of the rash may vary depending on which type of fungus causes the infection.  The fungi can travel around the body in the blood stream which enables them to spread to the warm, moist areas of the body.

Precautions can be taken to avoid ringworm type infections.  Staying away from and avoiding direct skin-to-skin contact with a human infected with ringworm or contact with an animal infected with ringworm is always a good idea.  Sharing another person’s towel or bedding could cause ringworm to spread. Things like playing in the dirt, while very rare, have even been thought to cause the spread of ringworm infections.

To cure ringworm infection is a process.  Trial and error play a big part in coming up with a solution that works best for each individual.  Whichever ringworm remedy you choose to use be consistent.  Follow the directions carefully and continue the treatment for awhile even if symptoms disappear.  This will ensure that the infection is completely gone and lessens the likelihood of reoccurrence.

Coping with Fibromyalgia

Dealing with Fibromyalgia

Dealing with fibromyalgia can be tough, and in today’s society where everything is set to “go” and we’re never allowed even a few minutes off our feet, it can be exceptionally debilitating. However, there are a fair few ways that we can make it easier on ourselves, and not all of these methods are as time-consuming, expensive or just plain stressful as you’d expect.

Fibromyalgia CasesFibromyalgia

Firstly, it’s a case of ensuring that what you’re dealing with has not been misdiagnosed. There have been cases across the years of CFT (chronic fatigue syndrome), where the sufferer has actually had fibromyalgia, but has been misdiagnosed. It is important that you’re aware of your situation so you can use the right methods for the right medical problem.

Secondly, you must accept that many people deem fibromyalgia to be what’s often referred to as an “invisible illness”. Although the symptoms may not be obvious to the general public, people suffering from fibromyalgia really do need medical assistance and by learning as much as you can about it, you can better respond to the doubters.

It’s also important to make life easy for yourself – if you’re always feeling exhausted, try and cut down on the amount of work you’re going to be doing on a daily basis. Make sure the house stays neat and organised, and that your working life is optimised to suit your needs – a good example is an office building with a working lift, rather than eighteen flights of stairs.

Accept that it is okay to feel down or worn out sometimes, and that they don’t call it an illness for nothing! You’re sometimes going to feel a little overwhelmed and frustrated, especially if you’re surrounded by energetic people of the same age as you. But hold on to what you’re good at, and try and build a support group up around yourself.

Fibromyalgia Patients

Make sure your superiors at work are aware of your condition – don’t be afraid to tell them, they’re not legally obliged to give you less work or treat you differently unless you’re specifically asking for it. It also means that if your symptoms flare up on any particular day you’re not going to be too put-upon by your bosses as they’ll be aware you need to recover, putting your health before your job – if your boss who won’t do this for you, this may indicate that you might not have the ideal job for your condition.

Most importantly of all, don’t give up. Rest your joints, buy special mattresses and fat-handled kitchen equipment, and ensure that your friends, family and loved ones are always on the look-out for you and your health. Fibromyalgia won’t beat you if you don’t let it, so put the effort in to make your life simpler and sooner than later you’re be a more relaxed and organised individual who can look their fibromyalgia in the eye and never falter.

Tinea Versicolor Diagnosis

Tinea Versicolor

What is Tinea Versicolor?

A doctor’s evaluation is the best way to confirm a tinea versicolor infection. It is a relatively common condition.  Two to eight percent of the United States population has tinea versicolor disease.  This skin disease frequently affects adolescents and young adults, especially in warm humid climates.  It is thought that the yeast feeds on skin oils and dead skin cells.  Infections are found more often in people who have dandruff and hyperhidrosis.

Diagnoses for Tinea versicolor

Diagnosis is usually based on a medical history and physical examination. The patches or spots that appear with this condition are distinctive, and usually allow the diagnosis to be made on physical examination.  Physicians may use an ultraviolet light to examine the patches more clearly. Under the light yeast types in the Malassezia group may glow yellow-green.  Another common practice in tinea versicolor treatment is for the physician to do skin scrapings of the lesions to help confirm the tinea versicolor diagnosis.

For someone who has received a tinea versicolor diagnosis the infection is easily treated with a variety of things like skin creams, shampoos, or solutions. If the infection is severe or if it envelops large areas of your body, is recurring, or does not ease with skin care, the doctor may prescribe antifungal pills.  People with liver or heart problems cannot take antifungal pills.  Blood tests may have to be done so the doctor can check to make sure your kidneys and liver are functioning properly.

Tinea Versicolor Treatment

Tinea versicolor treatment kills the fungi quickly, but it can take months for the spots to abate and for your skin color to return to normal.  Tinea versicolor treatment can last days or weeks, depending on how the rash reacts. For six months after the first tinea versicolor treatment, a person may be advised to apply topical treatments occasionally or take one or more doses of oral antifungal medicine to help prevent the rash from returning.

Doctors often recommend that bed linens and pajamas be washed daily during the tinea versicolor treatment to avoid re-infection. Some experts do advise boiling or discarding contaminated clothing if the rash is unshakable to prevent tinea versicolor.  It is believed to be a more certain way to eliminate the yeast during the tinea versicolor treatment.

Most Popular! The All Stop Ringworm Pack is the perfect solution for people with only a few small Ringworm sores. It soothes and repairs the skin, while it stops the spread of Ringworm. The long-lasting All Stop Ringworm Pack provides up to a full 12 hours of relief. Safe for use on small children and varying skin types and body parts.

Specific treatment will be determined by a physician’s positive tinea versicolor diagnosis. He or she will take into consideration factors like a person’s age, overall health, and medical history and extent of the condition.  Their tolerance for specific medications, procedures, or therapies, expectations for the course of the condition and your opinion or preference will also come into play.Tinea Versicolor must be treated.
